Common Ground will return this summer
A personal note from the Owner, Eddie
It’s the end of an era. After 4 ½ years, it’s time for me to move on. As of Tuesday 9th June, Common Ground has temporarily closed its doors.
However, I’m delighted to share that Common Ground will open its doors to the community once again in the Summer under new ownership. Alex (our Ops Manager) and Chris (Flow Records) are teaming up to keep the community spirit alive and bring a new exciting future for Common Ground. We had planned to make this transition as smooth as possible and not close at all, but life has thrown a few curveballs, and we’ll need some time to figure out exactly what comes next.
Common Ground is an unbelievably special place, a space which lets people connect. In a city that feels increasingly fractured, It’s living proof of the power and strength in community and togetherness. I’m immensely proud to have been part of its journey, through the ups and the downs, and I’m very excited to see what comes next for the space.
Thank you to all the staff over the years who have put in all their energy and positivity to make this place what is it today. Thank you for your friendship and putting your trust in me. You know who you are. Oxford would not be the same without all of you. And to my predecessor, Piotr, without the years of your hard work this community wouldn’t exist.
Thank you to all the event organisers, promoters and artists that have been part of the space over the years. It’s been a total joy working with each one of you, your drive, creativity and commitment to the community has been incredible to see.
And to you, our customers. Common Ground easily has the very best customers in Oxford. Thank you to those of you who have been coming and buying coffee from day one. To all the locals who have supported Common Ground all the way through. It’s been great to get to know you and I look forward to seeing you around in the future.
A special mention to Ori, who showed me the ropes and has guided me every step on the journey. Common Ground owes you one.
Lastly, thank you to Lily and Alma – a constant light through the good and not so good days.
Good luck Alex and Chris.
Over and out,
Eddie
